We are looking for a Membership Development Manager to join the Manchester Digital Memberships team to maximise the growth and success of our membership base and deliver our partnership and sponsorship strategy across our portfolio of programmes and events.

As Membership Development Manager, your focus will predominantly be on the acquisition and growth of our paid members and success will be measured through on-target performance with our membership growth ambitions. 

In addition, you will use your networks built within the sector and within our membership to assist with delivering our partnership/sponsorship strategy for our events, conferences and programmes. 

Who would be a good fit for this role? 

Ideally, you will: 

  • Already come from a Business Development background within the tech sector or have worked in roles such as Recruitment or Sales. 
  • Have a keen interest in technology and the sector.
  • Possess strong business and financial acumen with a high level of commercial awareness, be capable of identifying business issues, proposing solutions, and making commercial decisions.
  • Be a natural people-person with a knack for building beneficial business relationships. 
  • Hold the ability to work with many stakeholders including marketing, technical, finance and business development for each of our members, new and existing.
  • Have experience of using and maintaining Sales CRM systems - ideally Pipedrive. 
  • Have experience in quantifying, demonstrating and promoting value to potential members or customers.
  • Be a very proactive individual, a self-starter and keen to constantly learn! 

What will be your responsibilities? 

Reporting to the Head of Operations, your key responsibilities will be heavily focussed on membership acquisition and will be measured through on-target performance against our growth targets. 

You will be an integral part of a dynamic Memberships Team leading on membership sales and onboarding, identifying and developing partnerships to drive membership growth and sponsorship / other revenue opportunities.

As part of this role, your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Meet with potential members, understand their needs, and highlight the benefits of joining the community.
  • Identify new opportunities and nurture leads through the pipeline funnel via various activities and campaigns. This will include working closely with our Membership Admin and Marketing team for lead generation and pipeline building. 
  • Work with the Community Manager and our Marketing team to create marketing strategies and partner events that enhance membership retention and sales.
  • Own and manage all member and prospect data, tracking growth using our CRM system, Pipedrive.
  • Generate monthly membership growth reports.
  • To coordinate and drive membership growth by leading recruitment and retention activity across the organisation. 
  • Developing our annual plan for member recruitment activity and be responsible for achieving membership volume and revenue targets as per our growth plans.
  • Monitor and report on competitor activities around membership providing relevant reports and information. 
  • Be outward facing and attend and present at external meetings and events to promote Manchester Digital membership.

The role offers a competitive salary (£35,000 - £38,000 DOE) plus:

Our team currently work Monday to Friday, 9am - 5:30pm and Friday 9am - 5pm, but there may be an occasional need to support or represent Manchester Digital at early morning or evening events. 

Our flexible working policy incorporates two fixed days working from our Manchester office (Tuesday and Thursday) with the flexibility to be able to work remotely on the other 3 days.
